Shiba Available for Adoption

I currently have a 2 year old purebred female red Shiba available for adoption. Her name is Ella, she weighs about 22 pounds, and is quite tall for a Shiba. Ella is 100% house-trained, such a good girl! Ella is extremely excitable and loves to play. She is full of energy and will need some training to enforce when enough is enough (ie, jumping on people wanting to play, howling for attention, etc.) and some basic manners! She does not bite, but is a bit of a mouthy player; though she is responding very well to a firm "no."
Ella does well with dogs her own size and is friendly with other Shibas. We have had some growing pains with her and our small Pomeranian, so I would not recommend her for a home with a small dog if you are not familiar with introduction techniques.
Ella would excel in a home where she has a lot of attention: perhaps in the form of older children and/or a work from home situation. Ella is crate trained though she has perfected the art of the Shiba Scream when she is crated. Left to run loose, Ella is not destructive and enjoys curling up on the couch and/or bed with a rawhide or cow ear. When the family sits to watch TV, Ella is always in the middle of the action, begging for attention. She will do well as either an additional dog or an only pet.
Ella is up to date on shots and spayed.
We are asking for an adoption donation of $100.00 for Ella, which helps to rescue other Shibas in need.

Windermere Meetup
So, we braved the mud and puddles today for a quick trip to Windermere Park. Sadie, Marley, and Colby all had a great time playing with Brody and Napoleon from the Windermere Dog Park Dwellers Meetup! We are really looking forward to the next meet :)

Shiba Inu Meetup - September 21, 2008
Okay, so another month, another Shiba Inu meetup! This month's meetup was at Top Dogs Boutique in Kennesaw, GA. It was a good shopping experience as they have tons of Shiba stuff that is, usually, difficult to find. The room, however, was underwhelming to say the least. I cannot recommend this location for meetups for any group that has more than 5 people and 10 dogs. The room was stuffy, bright yellow (awful for pictures), and was a bit hot... really bad when you're claustrophobic! However, the dogs still had a pretty good time. I still prefer, hands down, to go to Best Friends Pet Care in Duluth for indoor meets, though. They had the ramp to play on, lots of room to play, and always provide treats or presents.
All ranting aside, it was nice to see all of the Shiba Inus again. We really have built a great extended Shiba-family within the group and I always enjoy seeing everyone. Sadie was much more behaved than last time, though she still gets riled up when the other dogs start play-fighting. Marley, as usual, spent the majority of his day underneath the chair.

We also had significant progress with Joji! She actually stayed in the middle of the room and even let people pet her. She's progressing! Do you see her hiding behind the American Eskimo?

Oh! And I was FINALLY able to find two of my "must-haves"... Orijen Dog Food (LOVE it!) and Puppia harnesses. They look great on the Shibas, but we passed on buying harnesses for the Pomeranians. I definitely do not recommend them for round-bodied dogs. I will try and post some pics of the kids in their new harnesses as soon as possible! In the meantime, I leave you with this priceless picture of Marley!

Update: Marley
Okay, so I know that I haven't been on to update anyone, but my computer crashed and I haven't had a lot of time on the computer, as such. Anyways, I just wanted to take a second and update everyone on Marley... we decided to adopt him!!
It only took about 3 hours of having him with us before we called Caroline at the Shiba Inu Rescue and told her that we were going to adopt. He fits in so well with our family and he's just too special to not have around all of the time.
Marley has settled in nicely and is having a fantastic time playing with his fur-brothers and sisters. He loves to play, sleeps with his head on my pillow, and is a big lap dog. We're looking forward to his first Meetup next weekend and I will have a full report on how things go!
